Leon Weber (*8 November 1994) is a German multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Berlin. He gained international attention in the early 2010s under the alias LCAW through a series of viral remixes for artists including Daughter, London Grammar, Parov Stelar, Rüfüs Du Sol, Marlon Roudette, Herbert Grönemeyer, and as a formative part of the tropical house scene surrounding Robin Schulz, Lost Frequencies, and Kungs. At the age of 19, the young producer was signed by Columbia Records; the magazine Musikexpress awarded LCAW the title “Best Upcoming DJ” (2014), and in the following years singles were released with artists such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, WhoMadeWho, and Martin Kelly, including remixes by Grammy winner RAC, Matthew Herbert, and KDA, among others.

In 2019, the DSO Berlin (German Symphony Orchestra Berlin) commissioned Leon Weber to compose a rework of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sixth “Pastoral” Symphony for orchestra and live electronics.
The world premiere took place in the Large Broadcasting Hall at the Haus des Rundfunks in Berlin. Another rework, of Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet in F major, was created in collaboration with the Philharmonia Quartet Berlin. The recording was released in 2020 (Deutsche Grammophon) digitally and on vinyl, and has since been performed with musicians from the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (BRSO), the Cologne Philharmonic, the Frankfurt Opera, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, and the Goldmund Quartet.
The official rework of Six Pianos by Steve Reich for piano and live electronics received worldwide attention upon its release in 2024. Performances followed with musicians from the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (BRSO) and the Cologne Philharmonic in an adaptation for marimba and live electronics.

The distinctive multilayered nature of Leon Weber’s work gives rise to a unique musical language that deliberately eludes conventional categorization. From this creative freedom and his sensitivity to narrative structures, his compositional focus has increasingly shifted toward film music. Leon Weber celebrated his first film premiere with the score for the short film A Soil A Culture A River A People by director Viv Li at the 82nd Venice Film Festival (2025). This artistic collaboration continues with Viv Li’s feature film debut Two Mountains Weighing Down My Chest, which, with music by Leon Weber, will celebrate its world premiere at the 76th Berlinale (2026).
